The Boer War   1 x 55 minutes
When Britain went to war against the Boers in October 1899, the public expected the fighting to be over by Christmas. As it turned out, the Boer War, in Kipling's famous phrase, gave the British "no end of a lesson". Using accounts of the soldiers who fought in this bitter and bloody clash-of-arms and remarkable contemporary photographs, we tell the story of Britain's last great Imperial war.

Air Battles of World War Two   1 x 55 minutes
Many dramatic battles were fought in the skies during the Second World War, from dog fights over England during the Battle of Britain and  Japanese Zeros taking on the American Hellcats to Corsairs battling over the Pacific. We also look at the bombing raids of the infamous 617 Squadron on the Mohne, Sorpe and Eder Dams and against the V2 Rocket launching site at Peenamunde.

Tank Battles   1 x 55 minutes
Hitler's trail to glory was blazed by the Panzer Division. Commanders such as Rommel rewrote the rules of tank warfare, but his reverse at El Alamein was the first indication that the tide was turning. At the battle of Prokhorova there were a staggering 1500 tanks on one battle field. This programme is a fascinating study one of the most extreme forms of conflict.

The Panzer   1 x 55 minutes
Some 25,000 tanks were produced in Germany and some 250,000 by the allies during the conflict. Yet, despite often overwhelming odds, the German Panzer Divisions became legendary. The Panzer crews still vividly remember the effect they had on the enemy and equally how easily the Panzer could become a steel coffin in one blazing moment.

Vietnam - the Chopper War   1 x 55 minutes
As US troops were committed in ever-increasing numbers in the 1960's to protect South Vietnam from Communist takeover, it became clear they faced a double enemy in the Vietcong and the inhospitable South-East Asian terrain. The helicopter turned the tide, revolutionising the face of warfare at a stroke and laying down a blueprint for the future. With much previously-classified film footage shot both on the ground and in the air, this programme examines the integral role played by the helicopter..

The War in the Air   1 x 60 minutes
Few nowadays would dispute that during World War II, it was the war in the air that made the eventual outcome inevitable. For the first time  airpower was a key weapon, contributing to the struggle everything from fighter battles and mass bombing raids to carrier based aircraft, flying bombs, reconnaissance, airborne troops, submarine hunting, convoy protection and strategic bombing.

The War in Europe   1 x 60 minutes
For the first three years of the Second World War Germany dominated the continent, from the Blitzkrieg on Poland, Norway, Denmark, Holland and Belgium the tragic fall of France. It was a long road back as the allies fought to free every inch of occupied Europe from Nazi rule, until German finally collapsed and capitulated.

The War in the Desert   1 x 60 minutes
Italy's entry into the Second World War in June 1940 jeopardised Britain's position in the Mediterranean, and endangered both oil supplies from the Middle East and lines of communication eastward through the Suez Canal. By February 1941, the allies had crushed the Italians; however the resulting euphoria was short-lived when General Rommel and the Afrika Corps entered the Theatre of desert war.
